The best reading fonts are serif at large point sizes.

I like ET Book and Linux Libertine O.

For legibility I’m a fan of Atkinson’s Hyperlegible, along with the Next and Mono variants. It’s designed to have distinct, readable characters, and the Mono variant is the most natural looking monospaced font that I’ve ever found.
